I know it's probably a bit late to ask this but does anybody have any RECENT examples of individuals/groups influencing legislative change? Need some comtemporary examples concerning petitions, demonstrations, and media influence. Any help would be greatly apprecitated!!

Lucy Haslam had a 2014 petition on medicinal cannabis which received 250 000 signatures- link to vic legislation.

The 'lock the gate' campaign demonstrations led to a ban on fracking in vic! They used a combination of media, lobbying, petitions, but demonstrations were their main thing: bringing together both environmental activists and farmers to show the government there was broad support for the ban.
