Hello People For Next Year: this is how the exams were structured

Science Reasoning (30 qs. 30mins)
Numerical Reasoning (50 qs. 30mins)
Scientific Prac. (5mins reading 25mins writing)
Mathematics (60qs. 30mins)
Science Essay (same as prac time)

Sorry, but I realised that if I tell you what was on the exam it just ruins it for other people that don't visit this website... Also JMSS are looking for people who already know the stuff in prior not for people who got their information from other people who've done the test...

Lol I know I said that, that's why I made that comment just then.. because it is kind of like cheating.

Just yesterday, I finished the test and I looked around me..  people were struggling I felt bad for them.. I kind of dont like the concept of "competitions", but its life

Wow! Well done everyone who sat the exam, I hope those who studied onerously advance to the interviews. And for those who "wing" it, best of luck, you still have a chance.
Though I did not sit the exam, may I ask what type of topics were on the JMSS Mathematics part?
Thanks
I remember there were:
]trig
some surds
algebra (simplify)
parabola
linear equations
quadratics?
bearings
(just know your year 9 maths and know some year 10 maths as well)

Fine Ill Just Help Everyone ...  :P But only for Numerical and Mathematics (cause that's all I can remember)

Numerical Reasoning:
- Number Patterns - i.e. there is a square in which there is a pattern, also there is a question mark in it which you have to figure out (relatively easy)
- Problem Solving questions - i.e. it says "x" buys 100 buns for $100 of someone and "x" can also buy buns for $1.6 per bun.. How much profit can "x" make
- Know your multiplication/division/addition/subtraction and also be quick at it.
- Can't Remember more :\

Mathematics:
-Quadratics (Graphs, Factorising, Expanding)
- Know BODMAS
- Basic Algebra
- Again Multiplication etc.
- Linear
- Compass / True Bearings
- Surds
- Can't Remember More :\

You've also got to know index laws and basic year year 9 maths.
The Science was also not like normal science test and was basically theory and didn't have that much year 10 stuff. You've also have to be quick at interpreting graphs as they are very important to the science test. There is absolutely no necessity to do year 10 and it is just year 9 basics.  ;D ;D

I guess we also have to change this discussion to an JMSS Interview discussion since the test is over.   ;) ;)

I feel like what we can convey to others is pretty obvious, unless someone is giving out actual formats of questions that people wouldn't usually think of. For example in science reasoning, we can pretty much just say: revise your knowledge of year 9 concepts and look at similar papers such as icas. And that's pretty broad. Most people that don't reach out to this site would try practice papers anyway, and that gives the same information. But maybe that's just how I feel...

(Feel free to change my mind on this btw)

The mathematics test didn't require a lot of knowledge of math topics. There was not a lot of quadratics involved (a bit of graphing and factorising), and that's basically the extent of it. There were a few questions about right angled trigonometry, a lot of basic algebraic manipulation (including factorising, expanding, and index laws). Quite a bit of linear, nothing on functions, a few geometry problems (e.g. finding the perimeter or angle), a bit of similar/ratios, and of course circle formulas. Some easy ones include finding the smallest or largest number of a list, or a calculation disguised as a worded problem. The things you got to have down is quick calculations and manipulation of algebraic equations. Maths test is speed speed speed.

Ok thanks :)

In my case I skipped a few questions along the way that were too time consuming, but I had time to go over them after I completed all the questions.
But for science reasoning, I didn’t have time to go over my answers  :'( I spent too much time reading the diagrams that I didn’t even understand..
