General Medical Interview prep

Hi
I am going to do an interview for Uni of Adelaide next week. But for more general medicine interview prep I was wondering if there are any useful websites on current stuff going on in health, medicine etc. A MBBS student told me that that kinda info is good for MMI interviews like with Monash and I know absolutely nothing about all that jazz so I am desperate for such a resource for my prep.
Anything at all would be helpful!
Thanks

Hey there :) if you're looking for current events, just have a browse through the health sections of news websites! The conversation also has some pretty good stuff. Just gotta browse around!

Tbh, I doubt you're gonna get asked about med related stuff for the interview - they don't expect you to have prior knowledge going into the course! It's just scenarios where you have to apply reasoning and all that (so like, maybe the scenario will be a medical one, but it's not one where you actually need knowledge to be able to answer it) - it's not too bad, just trust your gut instinct and answer the questions carefully :)

I would provide more specific info but I did the interview for Monash physio (exact same format only with less stations) and had to sign a secrecy form sort of thing haha. Hope this has helped a bit. Good luck for the interviews! :)

Hey, I am also doing the UAdel interview in a few days. Since Adelaide has a semi-structured interview format, MMI questions aren’t that useful. I’d recommend going on the medstudentsonline forum as they have quite a bit of free practice material. At Adelaide, there are two 15 minute panels so it would be good to practice answering behavioural type questions and scenario based questions as they comprise each panel. Adelaide also have a particular focus on teamwork and decision making. They want to hear about why you chose to apply for Adelaide in particular (especially if you are interstate) so be sure to check out their Case Based Learning (CBL) approach.

Good luck and PM me if you need any further assistance (I have spent way too much time researching for this interview)

The Conversation was my go-to for information about health. The way they discuss health is really useful for interviews too.

I can’t say I used it deliberately—I just read it for interest—but I suspect that was a large part of the reason I scored really well in that section.
