It's that time of year again: fun, festivities, and free headstart lectures!

As of today, registrations are open exclusively to forum members! (cause we <3 you guys most of all, and 'tis the season of giving)

Lectures will be on the 8th, 9th, and 10th of January, and places always fill up fast, so get in quick!

*Note: unfortunately we will not have a lecture for HHD this time around, but we will still have the updated set of notes written by a Premier's Award winner recipient available for purchase!

Hey just wanted to ask whether the English lectures will cover specific texts or whether it will be more broad and about essay writing.

They won't be text-specific at all, so they'll be applicable no matter which texts you're studying! There might be some text-based examples, but you won't need to have studied particular books for them to make sense

Just curious on what the LOTE lecture will be covering
Will it be aimed kinda towards second language students, teaching the best method to learn the language better and stuff like that
or towards first language students, more focused on what to talk about during the oral exam, etc.

The LOTE lecture will be for second language students (though you will still get something out of it if you're doing a first language; it's just that some of the advice for SACs and exam specifics won't apply to you!)

Other than that, it'll be full of tips for attaining and maintaining fluency for listening, reading, and writing in whatever language you're studying (French, Chinese, Turkish, anything!) Though I believe there'll be some sections based on speaking skills and oral SACs which won't be applicable for those doing Auslan or Ancient Greek etc.

They know you visited the event page because they track your browsing - Since you looked at the page, the algorithm thinks you are highly likely to click a link for that event (if you didn't register, you were at least considering it), so they serve you the ad hoping to grab you.
