Regional students and bonus marks

I’ve heard that regions students receive bonus ATAR marks. Could someone explain this please?

I don't think you "receive bonus marks" just because you are a regional student. However, when you apply for a course, you can lower your entry mark / increase your unofficial ATAR given by the uni, by applying for special programs like SEAS (Special consideration and Special Entry Access Scheme).

2018-English, Chinese SL, Chemistry, Physics, Maths Methods and Specialist

2019- Hug trees and hopefully do something related to Environmental science @ UniMelb

It depends on the course and uni. I know some universities (e.g. University of Queensland, University of Adelaide) which 'add' bonus points to your real ATAR and consider this new ATAR for admission into one of their courses. Just like A TART said, there's also SEAS for Victorian universities. For Monash, there's the Monash Guarantee, which allocates lower entry requirements for those who are eligible (categories: low socio-economic area, financial disadvantage, Indigenous Australian and attendance at a school recognised by Monash to be under-represented)
