After I complete this degree, where will this lead me to? As far as I know, I have to undertake further study to be qualified for a job?

Say, I specialise in mathematical economics and econometrics, and major in a science area, where would that lead me?

What if I major in something like actuary instead?

It entirely depends on what you actually end up applying for and working towards.

You could apply for public sector jobs at places like PM&C, Productivity Commission, RBA, Treasury, Finance, etc. You could apply for private sector jobs at financial institutions, consultancies, insurance firms, etc.

Further study would only be *required* if it was necessary to get professional accreditation. For example, one component of becoming a fully fledged actuary involves some further study once you are in the workforce.

Really, the course can lead you to many, many different places. It is not so much the course that will dictate your future, rather it will be how you choose to use your qualifications to get to where you want to be.
