I was just wondering how hard BIOL10004 is given that I never did VCE Biology. Is the content difficult to pick up? Thanks

BIOL10004 definitely isn't difficult; given that there are no prerequisites to the subject (i.e. VCE Biology) then the lecturers/coordinators assume no prior knowledge when students come into the subject. The subject essentially covers what you would've missed in VCE as well as with added depth (given it is uni after all!). Nonetheless, they provide plentiful resources for those who didn't take the subject in school on LMS, including some brief textbook readings, articles they uploaded and some optional 'quizzes' you can take to catch up on your knowledge before you begin (again, not compulsory, only if you feel like you want to get a foundation of Biology before you begin).

That being said, the subject itself requires a LOT of rote learning in terms of the content taught and attention to detail, particularly in the practicals. No subject in uni is easy! However, a lot of students who take this subject have never done Biology before (even people going onto Med!) so don't feel like you're the only one! Good luck with it all!  :)

Super easy subject (especially when compared to chemistry 1). I did VCE biology but I don't think it provided too much of an advantage. The subject has a large number of students taking it (around 1600), making it quite easy to stay in the top of the cohort if you study regularly.
