Which artists have you seen live?

For me, very few. I'm not a big concert-goer or whatever. However:

I saw Billy Joel in like 2007 or 2008 or some time around then. Very cool. Seriously, though - how good is "Angry Young Man"? ;D

I've seen Thirsty Merc and Josh Pyke a couple of times. Big sentimental value on both, but particularly the former.

Seeing The Avett Brothers live is a huge thing I want to do in my life, but I'm not sure when the chance will arise.

And I'm seeing Ed Sheeran with my partner in a month or so, which is what prompted this thread! Should be groovy.

How about you all?

I've never been to a concert  :'( The bands I like always seem to have visited Australia just before I discover them haha (and then they take several years to come back). Pretty much all of my friends have terrible taste in music too. Some of my siblings and I bought my mum (and her friend) tickets to Ed Sheeran for her birthday (you might see her haha), that's the closest i've got to going to a concert. I thought about trying to get myself a ticket for it (damn they were hard to get) but I don't know anyone willing to spend that much on a concert ticket - They are really expensive, but I do want to go to one (several) at some point. For now I'll have to stick to watching videos on youtube (The ones that were filmed for broadcast are almost like being there - I say as someone who's never been to there.)

If your mum and I are coincidentally going on the same night, and we happen to cross paths, and she's wearing an "I am PhoenixxFire's mother - nice to meet you" hat, I'll be sure to say hi and that I know her daughter via the ATAR Notes Forums! ;D

I've seen Dragon (famous for their song Rain- google it! :) ) live and that's about it- I'm keeping an eye out on my favourite artists to see when they're touring though! :)

This sort of counts but my dad toured with U2 (as a sound engineer) before I was born, and he was also around with Mi-Sex (of 'Computer Games' fame) ;D

Neat! "My dad toured with U2" is a great fact to use in those bullshit icebreaker games haha.

I attended Soundwave '14 which was the first show I'd ever been to (as I was 15 at the time and metal shows are normally 18+). While there, I saw Amon Amarth, Mastodon, Devildriver, Trivium, Five Finger Death Punch, Testament, Gwar, Volbeat, and Tesseract, as well as a bunch of miscellaneous bands on other stages while walking around.

I saw Megadeth in 2015 when they toured with Children of Bodom. I mainly went for CoB, but Megadeth was grouse too. Unfortunately, both myself and the person I was with were both minors, so we were stuck in the seated section

I also saw Eluvetie in 2016, with a local band called Stormtide as an opener, which was the best live act I had ever seen. A few hundred people crammed into 170 Russel for a few hours, only mere weeks before three members of the band left.

Since then, I've mainly seen a bunch of local Melbourne/Geelong bands (mostly death metal, black metal, and one thrash show).

I've seen Dragon (famous for their song Rain- google it! :) ) live and that's about it- I'm keeping an eye out on my favourite artists to see when they're touring though! :)

It is- I nearly always use it for those bullshit icebreakers anyways, because I have 5000+ songs on iTunes just doesn't cut the mustard 😂

I saw Katy Perry at Qudos arena in 2014 which was my first concert and was amazing!!

Saw One Direction in 2015 with my sister (and mum) and I was still really into them as a band so it was really cool to see them live (and in a stadium-it had fireworks and different special effects!). Was just before Zayn left the band.

Saw The Vamps in September last year at Hordern Pavilion with my sister which was the first time ever I was in a mosh pit. We were also pretty close to the front (on the side) so it was really cool!

Saw Shawn Mendes in December with my sister-was really good! His songs were great, and it was a sold out arena!

Have Ed Sheehan on the 17th of March (the day after my birthday). :D

Haven't been to concerts of contemporary artists, but have been to quite a lot of live orchestral performances (Melbourne Symphony Orchestra) which are always wonderful.  Lots of good memories.  (check out the MSO's annual free concerts - I think they're this Wed/Sat/Wed evenings!)
