Expected UMAT percentile

Hi Guys!

So as many of you probably are, I've started preparing for the UMAT (long 4 months ahead) and I am wondering what sort of score out of 134 would approx get what percentiles. I know it changes year by year but I'm wondering what I should be working towards if i want a place in med.

I did the first online practice exam with medentry and got 95/134 (Section 1 38/48, Section 2 29/44, Section 3 28/42). Online it says that this is 97th percentile of the medentry cohort but i'm unsure how this relates to the actual UMAT cohort.

Thankyou!  :)

Your score out of 134 is quite irrelevant as you will never find out what you actually got because ACER have a unknown process that converts your raw score to section scores out of 100 and a total score out of 300, which is used to determine your percentile. Certain questions can be weighted more or less based on the number of high performing students that got the particular question correct, and some questions are not assessed as they are used by ACER as test questions for future UMATs.

If you can consistently get close to 100th percentile in medentry exams, you’ll probably do similar in the real thing as the medentry cohort is generally better than the UMAT cohort.

Hey,

Completely unrelated but how many drills and guides did you do beforehand? I feel like I should just knock a practice exam out of the way early to see what I need to work on but I have so many sacs coming up :( 97th percentile in medentry is amazing btw!

Pretty much I did the 2 day lecture late jan having done absolutely nothing prior and that was amazing! I learned so much so I had that still reasonably fresh in my brain - I only did 5 drills (3 section 1 and 2 section 3) before hand and i'd skimmed probably 1/4 of the guides. In hindsight I probably should have done more but I was just wanting to get a baseline exam score since the exam on the 2nd day of the course I did on 5 hours sleep (god bless living an hour and a half away from the lectures and going to the Aus Open the night before) soo i don't think it was a very good gauge. The sections I did do the drills for though did improve a lot compared to the exam at the lecture so I think i'll be doing quite a few more before my next Practice exam.
Thanks so much and goodluck for your umat prep and Umat when it comes!
