Transferring to engineering

Hey guys,

last year i graduated with an atar above 95, but i didn't get into the course i wanted (law and arts). So instead, i decided to do arts single degree and transfer to law and arts. But now, after thinking about law degree and future prospects, it seems I don't want the law lifestyle.

i've always been a more maths/science based person so i now want to do engineering.

so my question is... when's the earliest i can change my course from arts to arts/engineering double degree?

Taken from Monash Eng faculty website :

To be eligible for a course transfer you must meet all of the following criteria

Be a current student who will be continuing their program of study (in other words, you have not completed your current degree)

Have completed a minimum of 12 credit points of study at Monash - in general, the Faculty of Engineering requires successful completion of two semesters of full-time study (48 credit points)

Have met the VCE, IB or equivalent prerequisites for the course to which you wish to transfer. Prerequisites for engineering degrees are listed on Study at Monash.

Selection for Course transfer is a competitive process and approval is subject to the availability of places in each degree.

Minimum averages required to be considered for an offer

Single engineering and all other engineering double degrees

As stated above the earliest realistic time to enter into the double degree will be for sem 1 2019. That doesn't mean that you cant use your elective spots next semester to start doing engineering subjects though, as you will have to start doing them next year anyway. Id look at the handbook and talk to the faculty and ask if they can recommend any good subjects to do as an elective in sem 2 that you would've otherwise had to do the next year. I definitely wouldn't be doing any non-engineering electives for the rest of this year but im not too sure how it works at monash these days. definitely speak to someone asap and bring up the idea of doing eng subjects as electives for this year while still in the straight bachelor of arts with aims of transferring into the double.
