Studying HSC/Prelim Content for HY's

Hi...

In preparing for my half-yearly exam, I'm not quite sure how much I should study for the prelim content... (My exam is two hours) I've heard that apparently in the HSC exam, 20% of the questions are from prelim content... Is that correct?

I have a fairly good grasp (for the most part) of the HSC content that I have done so far, but a little rusty on the prelim topics that don't carry across into the HSC... But I don't want to waste my time by studying too much for these...

Any advice greatly appreciated.  :)

2018: HSC

2019: Gap Year

2020-2024: B Science / M Nutrition & Dietetics @ USYD

That 20% rule should be somewhat indicative of how much prelim content you should study. Since 20% of the content is prelim, as a rule of thumb you should spend 20% of your time studying for it.

Of course, it’s still just an indicator. A more important rule is to spend more time on what you’d struggle with in any case. Only you can find the best balance for yourself.

I'd do a few past exams my friend!! Certain prelim topics tend to show up more, so doing a few bits of practice will help narrow that down for you ;D
