Hello, I got a 90th percentile with greater than 50 for each, what ATAR should I be aiming for a good chance at obtaining a spot at monash?
I expect my ATAR to be somewhere near the low 99's.

Thanks!

Honestly low 99s should give you a good shot at getting a place as long as you do decently in your interview

You should get interviews at most unis with a decent shot if your ATAR is closer to 99

Haha guys I am in year 9 and I just wanted to ask you guys something.

Do you have to sit the UMAT if you go into bachelors of science or bachelors of biomedicine ?

Cheers

If you go into either you cannot sit the UMAT as you are only eligible to do it if you have not commenced an undergraduate degree. Don't worry too much about it now! :) You've got plenty of time.

edit: some unis do transfers. sorry about that :/

Wait are those the degrees that need those high ATAR scores such as 98 and 99.5 right.

I just want to become a doctor and I thought you needed to sit the UMAT for it.

Before you become a doctor, you need to complete one of the bachelors that I mentioned above

To get into an undergraduate medical degree such as the one at Monash, it’s based on ATAR, UMAT and interview. To get into a postgraduate medical degree such as the one at Melbourne uni, you must complete a bachelors degree (doesn’t matter which one as long as you fulfill the prerequisites although it’s usually science/biomed) and entrance is based on GPA, GAMSAT and interview.

Ohh so I can complete a bachelor in either biomedicine or science and then I can go onto completing an undergraduate degree.

I understand the fact that it depends on the uni though.

Thanks

A bachelor of biomedicine or a bachelor of science is your undergraduate degree, and if you do the prerequisite subjects and the GAMSAT, you can then go on to do a postgraduate medical degree. However some universities offer undergraduate degrees in medicine, so there’s no need to do a biomed or science degree beforehand and you can go straight from school into medicine (although this is generally dependent on your UMAT score).

I thought there were some unis which would accept you if you into undergraduate medicine after commencing another undergraduate degree. I think JCU and some NSW unis do but I'm not sure as I'm not based out that way and aren't a uni student (yet) either! I could be wrong but yeah

2018 - English (39), Mathematical Methods (44), Specialist Mathematics (38), Chemistry (50), UMAT (100th)

This is correct. JCU, UNSW, JMP and WSU accept students with a tertiary record based on GPA, UMAT (except JCU) and interview. There are also internal transfer pathways such as at Adelaide and Curtin.

Guys i have a question. On Monash's website, it states that you need a study score of at least 35 in English to get into med. Does this also apply to English language or will i need to do english ONLY?

It's 30 for English, English Language & Literature, and 35 for EAL I'm 99% sure
