Visuals in SAC's 😭😭😭

Hi guys,

I just need help, I would like to know how is the best way to write/to include a visual in an essay. For example how can we say: "The accompanying image photograph depicts a man yelling to his child, representing the sort of inconsiderate behaviour." for an image similar to the attached image below. (I struggle more about the representing ___________ part).

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks !

You are on the right track with your comment about the image "representing ...(something)".  You have to avoid summarising/just describing what is in the image.  Think about why this image is relevant to the text.  How is this example of visual language being persuasive?  The image you've included shows a group of fairly common drugs - I am assuming the article its used with is concerned with banning the over the counter sales of these.  So the image shows a range of pretty familiar products - until recently you could buy them in the supermarket. (This is description and you should avoid this)  It would be a good idea to make a connection between the visual and the part of the text that refers to them e.g. "the ban refers to familiar products like the ones shown in the accompanying image."  The visual could be used to highlight the familiarity of these products to consumers and contrast this with the hidden dangers these drugs contain.  Interpreting the persuasive influence of the image will be dependent on the views of the author - is the image supporting or challenging the author's views?
