how to actually wake up on time?

hi guys, this might really be a weird post but I've recently been having this issue which has been going on for quite a while (maybe a couple of you can relate?)...I can't seem to wake up on time and sometimes it makes me late for class/work/studying. what's worse is I also like things done in the early morning too :/

- every time I intend on taking a short nap, I actually sleep for several hours
- I put my phone far away from the bed so I have to walk to get it
- I put my alarm to a fairly loud noise...still can't hear (it's not that I'm lazy and I just slept through it, but I actually didn't hear it - but if I'm awake I find the noise very loud)
- yes I do get enough sleep
- I don't have anyone to wake me up. I've even had people try call me on my phone to wake me up, still don't hear
- I literally set my alarms every 3-5 mins, constantly ringing from the earliest hour I wish to wake up...and I literally go through days where I sleep through about 40-60 alarms

this is really making me furious right now. I have 2 9.30 exams and I'm so worried I won't wake up in time. I don't know what I can do

Maybe look at your sleep hygiene?
E.g going to sleep and waking up at the same time each day, not having any lights on in your room while you are sleeping and reducing caffeine intake (as these things can influence sleep quality as well as quantity).

If you have a fitbit or similar you could try using the tactile alarm option where it will vibrate to wake you up - some people seem to wake a lot better through contact than noise

To add in, maybe you could try getting out of the habit of napping? Try and get your body on a very specific schedule - your napping habit may be messing you up a little bit by making your body believe it's okay for you to act like a bear in hibernation.
Also, you're conditioned to sleeping through your alarms. Your body isn't recognising the noise as 'time to get up' or a threat, so why not try changing your alarm noise to something more... alarming? (no pun intended) I use an awful klaxon sound because nothing else wakes me up!
Wearing a fitbit to bed and using the vibrating alarm on that could work as well, as miniturtle suggested.

Hope something works! Good luck with your exams.<3

thanks for the replies guys :)
not having any lights on in your room while you are sleeping
I'm not sure about this...because if I wake up and it's still dark because the lights are on I might feel more inclined to sleep??

Sorry I was unclear in the post. The napping isn't really a habit, most of the time when i want to take a 'nap', it is at night around bedtime. I rarely nap during the day. So like I'll want to take a nap at 11pm but then I end up sleeping for 10hrs... ??? :-\

also will try the fitbit thing :)

Definitely agree with the above that you want to try to make your bedroom as much of a sleep place as possible, so that you're getting to sleep quickly and getting good quality sleep. Having a really set routine is also really helpful, because your body does get into the habit of waking at the same time (which is largely why many of us wake up about 5-10 minutes before our alarms go off!).

Once you wake up, you do want to see light to aid becoming alert and to train your body clock, but I certainly wouldn't keep lights on while you are sleeping. If it's bright outside when you wake up, I'd really recommend letting that natural light in
