Am i screwed for my ATAR score???

i've never been a good student, and my sacs in unit 3 have been averaging around 20-30% maybe even worse, basically E-UG

if i do really well in my UNIT 4 SACS, will my ATAR still be really shit?

im ranked last in my year level but i really want to get an atar of 80+, is this possible if say i work really hard and nearly get full marks on the VCCA exams????

do sacs basically determine your atar? because in this case i'd probably be getting a >30 atar

this year im doing
psychology, further, english, business and health
how hard would it be for an averaging around E student to get study scores between 30 and 40s??

It's going to be difficult for you to get study scores between 30-40, but it is 100% possible

Eg. for psychology the exam is worth 60%, the unit 4 SACs are worth 24% and the unit 3 SACs are worth 16%.

The most important thing for you to do now is this:
a) Acknowledge that future isn't determined by your ATAR, and your ATAR hasn't been determined yet
b) Identify why you have been receiving these scores in a specific manner
c) Create a plan
d) Enact the plan

I can't help you too much for the other subjects, but definitely feel free to reach out in the psych forums and let the community know how we can help you

When you say difficult, do you mean difficult to get between 30-40 study scores due to my sac scores or difficult because of the minimal effort im most likely putting into vce?

Hi,

First of all, please calm down. It isn't the end of the world!

Unfortunately, If you have been getting 20-30% for your sacs in Unit 3, and also ranked last in the cohort, it is most unlikely that you will recover from this. The only way for you to achieve 80+ atar is to allocate most of your time on to your study.

But as others have said, Sacs arent the only factor that determines your study score. It is ultimately the final exam that you must ace in order to achieve a reasonably good study score for your subjects. It is very rare for someone that has been last in the cohort, and somehow get 100% in the exams, but getting an average-high mark would be possible if you were to put in most of your time into study.

Also, I have friends that received bad atar scores but were able to get into uni via diploma. (1 year of diploma and achieving a decent mark to get into 2nd year in the following year. So he isnt behind compared to other uni students.)

When you say difficult, do you mean difficult to get between 30-40 study scores due to my sac scores or difficult because of the minimal effort im most likely putting into vce?

They both can be difficult. Most students fail to achieve 40 study score. But i think you still have chance to achieve 30 if you do 'ace' the exam! If you really want 80 atar, you must put maximum effort from now on. (80+ ATAR is essentially you getting a better score than 80%+ of the state)

Difficult because patterns are hard to break and for you to achieve what you want to you will need to dramatically change your patterns around studying, school, and your subjects.

As meddling had said,  achieving 80 isn't easy,  and it's going to be more difficult for you due to already being behind.
