subject selection help

hey guys am currently in year 11 and my only maths subject is currently methods 3/4, I want to do either further mathematics or spesh next year. I haven't done spesh 1/2 or general maths (1/2). which one am I most prepared for, having only done methods?
I think its important to add;
- I'm confident in methods
- we dont have a specialist teacher and i would have to do distance education.
- further is easy but scales bad, apparently it relies heavily on unit 1/2 knowledge?
-specialist is hard but scales good.
but regardless of all that, which of the two subjects (further and specialist) do you guys think is easier for me to score higher in?

Mathematical Methods (34)
2019

Well, we hace the same thing at our school, that Spesh is distance ed...

But I personally would suggest Further.
My mate dropped out of Methods 1/2 (cause he is a lazy ****) and went to further 3/4.
ALthough he struggled a bit at the start, the fact that he was actually pretty confident in methods meant that he had the general knowledge of maths to make his way satisfactorily through the course. He is now on course for one of the top spots in that class...

yeah, but getting a raw 40 sounds way more difficult in further, a subject that has a different type of maths that I am not used to

From this comment it sounds like you're leaning towards bus man atm. What's holding you back?

I haven't studied either of my subjects but both were popular options at my school & people tended to be able to pick them up as 3/4s without too much difficulty

Hey. :) General thoughts/questions below.

How big a deal is this for you? Do you feel as though you'd have the self motivation and discipline to push yourself through Distance Education?

Scaling exists for a reason. Say you achieved a 30 raw in Specialist Maths. In 2017, that scaled to a 41. To get that equivalent scaled score in Further, you'd need a raw 43 or so. Whether you feel it easier or more fulfilling to get a 30 raw in Spesh or 43 raw in Further is really up to you. A perhaps relevant question: what do you want to do after Year 12? Would Spesh be of benefit to you?

P.S. I did Further 3/4 without 1/2 and didn't feel disadvantaged in the slightest. This was a few years ago, but I'm guessing it would be similar atm.
