Quick question about answering AoS question

Hi everyone,
Just a quick question,
If the question is something along the lines of “Not all discoveries are made for the first time. Explore the truth of this statement in relation to the texts, you have studied.“ Are we able to disagree with the question or say some something about how first time discoveries are more significant than rediscoveries? The problem is that my prescribed text (Tempest) definitely agrees with the question but my related (Yesterday was Beautiful- short story) only really focuses on initial discoveries so..... yeahhh I’m not quite sure :/

Thanks in advance,
Good luck with studying for trials!

Hi...

This is basically a 'to what extent' question in disguise.  :) So yes, you ARE allowed to disagree with the question, but make sure you still argue why you disagree, rather than dismissing the question altogether.

It is also a good idea in this type of question to not full out agree or disagree with the statement. From Emily's English lecture this week, she said she tried to aim to sit at about a 7 out of 10, in terms of how much she agreed with the question. It is a good way of setting up the essay as it shows you have thoughtfully considered the question and your evidence, and makes your essay more thorough.

Since you said the Tempest works well with the question, but not your related, perhaps your essay could sit at a similar stance - agreeing, but also showing the limitations to the statement. It probably puts you in a better position than if both of your texts worked well one way, as there is more to compare and contrast, this way.

Hope this is helpful.  :)
