How do I not fail?

I used to be pretty good at maths and I don't hate it but since dropping down from 3 unit in year 11 I've done absolutely nothing. I've passed my tests (just) by cramming the night before but it was only ever 3 topics at a time and I've forgotten most of it.

I know this was not the best way to go but what's the best approach for the week from now till my trials to get the best mark possible. Maths used to be my fav subject so I don't find it too difficult to grasp concepts and engage with the work but I'm super patchy on all topics and therefore can't rely on past knowledge when trying to learn my yr 12 topics and have to flip back all the time.

(also is it too late to drop to general?)

Hiya darlo69,
so in reserve order, you can technically drop at anytime  ;D throughout the year they just highly recommend you don't because it will mess with your marks a fair bit and it's just easier to just stick it out in mathematics  8).

If you are a week off your exam, fear not, cause that's loads of time to get as much content as possible into your brain. First and foremost, best thing to study for test is to do practice papers, as many as you can in the time frame. If you don't really have the patience doing the whole test what you could do is go through a paper and highlight the questions that you can't figure out and attempt to do those as this way you are preparing for the stuff you don't know making it very effective if you're short for time. Don't forget about the AN community right here if you get stuck on anything!!

Otherwise, while that's effective, I often get bored and frustrated doing even that, so what I normally did if I was like this is I would do a bunch of the easier questions to get my confidence back up and then attempt the harder ones again with help from friends and teachers. If you think you won't be able to commit to this for the week, I would suggest grabbing a buddy going to the library, sitting down and together just get through as many of the hard questions as you can. This way you get the added benefit of having two brains to collaborate between.

Hope this helps!!
