Until the next election when they get obliterated by Labor.

They won in 2013 based on Labor's backstabbing and instability. Given they've now proven they are the exact same, I don't think voters will take that lightly. Let's not forget that the Coalition only just won the election last time.

(Yes, this relates to ScoMo as well because he'll resign after they lose - the cycle continues)

I reckon ScoMo gives them a better chance than Dutton would have, though.

Frydenberg deputy. Feel sad for Bishop.

I’m not convinced that he’ll last.

The issue of the different generations/strands of liberals will still be there. It’s only a matter of time.

Part of that may depend on if he tries to steer the party towards a new identity and expels the old zombies of the liberal party.

Absolutely. Was almost disappointed with today's result but, at the end of the day, they've still done an enormous amount of damage,  so can't be too sad. lol.

Politics is a weird game, so it's hard to say what long term impact a shift to ScoMo will have. What really strikes me is the lack of projection to the public during the leadership spill. We had six candidates run for leadership positions today, of whom only one publicly acknowledged prior to running that they intended to run. Now I'd make the value judgment that that shows contempt to the people they're meant to serve, but leaving that aside it seems like an extraordinarily silly way of conducting oneself.

Unless they have gone even more mad than current events make them appear, he'll last to the next election. After that, it's anyone's guess.

But, given a lot of the anti-Dutton stuff I've seen was over his performance in Immigration and particularly with refugees, it's worth remembering that Morrison was the Immigration Minister for the Abbott government stopping the boats etc., and then recommended Dutton to take over from him when he moved to Treasurer.  Individual ministers may take heat for particular decisions, but it was and presumably is party policy. (see also this from First Dog on the Moon).

But then you realise that with ScoMo as Immigration Minister, a lot of people's response to that question was "in off-shore detention centres!"

Still hoping (confidently) for that good ol' pendulum swing <3

Is it ironic that he is a minister from Cronulla? :D
