https://www.buzzfeed.com/lanesainty/vce-discussionspace-facebook-group-exams

“The drama between the two kicked off in July 2018 when TSFX director Andrew Murchie learnt a Google drive folder was being shared online with more than 1,000 trial exams in it – including 42 trial exams owned by TSFX.”

Thoughts?

It’s hilarious. They got what they deserved.

They knew people were uploading copyrighted exams to the folder and said they were okay with it and they got tons of students mad at TSFX for shutting it down.

The way they handled it was incredibly bad too - on the post they made it seem like it was one or two exams uploaded without their knowledge and emphasised the exams that were uploaded a year ago (the ones owned by the other company) rather than the TSFX owned exams which were uploaded recently.

TSFX was well within their right to shut it down (and that’s not even counting all the hate posts that breached fb community standards) and the admins handled it incredibly badly.

Also they muted me for saying they deserved it lol. Apparently they’re ‘very confident in both [their] moral and legal position’.

They knew very well what they were getting into. Other companies such as NEAP are known to have previously sued websites/organisations giving out copy right material. Surely they did not expect to upload hundreds of copy righted materials online without repercussions...right?

Also
“When the group was taken down, the students were distraught and we received hundreds of emails, calls and texts from students who were worried that their exam results would be jeopardised by the loss of their forum."
LOL. I have never seen something even close to resembling useful on VCE Discussionspace. Not once. God their defence seems to amateurish.

It’s so obvious they’re just cut that their platform with 100,000+ users was taken away from them. As the article alluded to, it was used for advertising uber and other companies so i’m guessing it brought in big money for them.
Well deserved.
