I'm just writing up question 5 now. I'm sorry this is taking so long. I had a 3-hour Engineering exam this morning and so I had to take a break. Solutions to Section B will be up soon :D

Hey sine, did you think exam 1 and 2 this year was harder than usual?
I haven't done the exams fully yet so not the best person to deteremine the difficulty of the exams but from just looking over the exams and seeing what needs to be done to get to the answer I would think exam 1 was slightly tougher than usual and exam 2 looked to be normal difficulty (similar to 2014-2015).

Actually if a=0, then stationary points exists for x=1,x=0, x=-2
because we now have x=1,-1- (1^1/2), -1 + (1^1/2) which become x=1,-1 - 1, -1 +1
not sure what you mean but
a only = 0 for 1f.
When you move onto the other questions a is any real number

Hey Sine. If 2014-2015 is considered normal difficulty. Where does 2016 and 2017 lie on the difficulty scale?

Lol there's no way this was comparable to 2014-2015, 2014 and 2015 were dead easy, even 2016 and 2017 were reasonable, this years exam 1 and 2 were completely fucked

On the tougher side of things -  I think 2013, 2016, 2017 are probably the hardest three exams.

e.g. in 2013 you could drop 5.5 marks for a 48 however dropping 6 in 2014-2015 would be a 45.

Maybe I found the 2017 methods exam 2 easier than today's exam 2 because there weren't many questions with constants "a" etc
constants do my head in lol

man under normal conditions i would smash out exam 1 and exam 2s with relative ease. scoring easily in the above 45 range. under timed conditions, im a complete idiot. i think your perception is skewed due to the latter. (not to be rude, im sure your smarter than me) exam 1 was in my opinion the hardest exam 1 in any vcaa exam, same with exam 2 2017. i hope your ruminative state post exams is just you being a perfectionist and that you aced both if not exam 2 in methods. even if you didnt. it doesnt matter :)

Yep, it was to the nearest square metre. Whether that answer is accepted will be determined on the assessor's day (which I think will be Saturday)
