Has everyone sat the exam? Or are there still people doing it at a later date?

That wasn’t easy but I feel like it was so much better than last years!

Did anyone else get 41 for the number of trials and what did people get for the very last question?

Just going to remind everyone that a lot of hardwork goes into making the exam and therefore VCAA have copyrighted their exams. As a responsible organisation that wants to see this forum exist for a long time in the future, we cannot release a copy of the exam nor can we allow you to exchange one here either.
Please play by the rules on this and we'll have a good night discussing the exam!

Congratulations to you all for finishing up Methods. It's a bloody hard subject that will pay dividends as you progress onto further study next year and beyond.

Same. I think you had to make Pr(X>1) > .99 so 1-Pr(X=0)-Pr(X=1)>.99. Then solve for n

i did exactly this? but didnt get 39?i got somewhere near high 20s i cant remember exactly what

damn then  i didnt get that? are you talking about the smallest number of n, for p hat to be greater than 0.99

Just gonna drop in, for that question I got n = 39 or something. I'm confident with the answer but I'm not sure if I used a valid method, I created function(n)=binomialcdf(defined with n parameter as max and amount), then subbed in random values of n until it's just above 0.99. This is basically the equivalent of putting it onto a spreadsheet and observing for the value of n.

but i did pr(x=0) plus pr(x=1)? thats odd  you guys are right probably a calculating error on my behalf

How did you write it out on the exam? Did you use calculator notation?

Between 66-69/80

Tbh think thats an overestimation. The highest cutoff in the last 7 years was 67-68, and tbh our's wasn't the easiest in that time frame. I'm calling 66, but will have to wait and see!
