Hey Guys, so I recently did a practice exam, and i have a question about this M/C question

complement proteins can play an important role in defending the body against disease by:

a) attracting antibodies
b) causing inflammation
c) puncturing holes in viral membranes
d) attracting macrophages

so I picked  B but D was actually the correct answer, i just want to know why B and C are incorrect, as I thought complement proteins premote inflammation?
Thanks in advance :)

C is incorrect because they punch holes in bacterial membranes not viral membranes.

B is incorrect because they don’t cause inflammation, they attract other immune cells which cause inflammation.
