VCE Summer School for Disadvantaged students! Closing Dec7

Hey there!

Just thought I'd let any year 11s or year 12s next year know that applications for the VCE summer school at the University of Melbourne are open!! There is a heap of info on the website, so I won't bore you with all the details here but the tl;dr:

-it's a summer school for disadvantaged students (have a look if you qualify on the website!)
-it's run by high-achieving students from universities in Victoria
-it's legit; this programme has run for more than 40 years
-there is a cost associated but if the cost is a barrier to your attendance, please please please contact the directors about this and they'll help you sort this out
-it's a fantastic opportunity to meet like-minded students to form study groups with during the year, as well as have direct access to the best and brightest tutors to get a head start for VCE

I should be clear, I haven't been asked by anyone to post in this thread. I have been involved in VCESS for four years and, like many AN people, will be tutoring there again next year. There is no benefit to me either direct or indirect in posting this; I just genuinely think this is a bloody good programme that can do a hell of a lot of good for your VCE.

Is there a similar program run across the year at UoM? I'm a year 12 this year and would love to get involved but I noticed it's only open to current students at UoM which I am not...yet :P.

Yay for VCESS! It's fantastic, anyone considering should definitely come if they can :)
Pls do not send me a pm about Aspire applications. The process has vastly changed since I applied.

Hi!

Yes please join! I was a VCESS student myself and loved the vibe so much I applied to be a tutor and so I’m tutoring in January.

6x6 hours of tutoring $220? That’s $6.11 an hour. Pretty good, doesn’t even include free sausage sizzles, fun extra classes and cute friends you’ll make.

A friendly reminder that this closes in a couple of days! Having recently met all of the tutors, can safely say it’s going to be an especially good VCESS this year!

Just one more quick question if you guys don't mind; what sort of criteria are used for bursaries, and, if we can attend but still require some help in paying the fees, are there any documents/evidence that we need to provide to VCESS in order to get some degree of a discount?

Looking forward to the program! Is anyone else considering going?

Thanks.
PM me for Methods (raw 46) and Chemistry (raw 48) resources (notes, practice SACs, etc.)

I also offer tutoring for these subjects, units 1-4 :)
