But seriously, what are the things that the examiners look for when they are marking our essays
that could be the difference between a 7 or an 8, for example.

Like, in Text Response, Context and Language Analysis, what will make the examiner say:

"Hmm, well the essays is not too fancy, possibly looking at a 7, but because they've got (insert something examiners love here), ill give them an 8 "

Very clear direction in their essay, well analysed points, good structure ( topic sentences, linking back) may be the last thoughts that go through their head when they're deciding between two grades.

Near the clock, there should be something along the lines of, "Synaptic Pointing Device".  From memory, you ritgh-click that and disable it.
