As we are getting into term two, a lot of the people around me have been getting really down and i have heard this being attributed to the 'Term Two Blues'... I'm trying to keep up my motivation and do well but having everyone around you being really negative and only wanting to complain about assessment tasks and things like the 'wording of the practice sac prompt' for english/lit is a massive annoyance :/ I don't want to cut my friends off, but i also just want to get on with my work and get the best scores that i can without being affected by their mood swings. Any tips or advice?
Hey,
I think what I do is to just become positive. Whenever someone says they're gonna fail, I just say positive things to reassure them that everything is fine. I think what this does is that it creates a ripple effect, and people will become more positive. Now, to be fair, this is a more idealised attitude that you can choose to fulfil, and might not affect your friends that much. They might even be annoyed at you. Whatever it is, just keep this reassuring attitude and help them to take some pressure off. I am (kind of) going through term 2 blues as well, but one of my friends inspired me to be keep going. It's really helpful.
So remember: keep a reassuring attitude, but also know that while there are some things beyond your control (such as your friend's mood swings), you can ultimately control how you choose to react to it. So
keep going, make a conscious attempt to let go of this negativity and focus on what will get you far ahead

.
But sometimes join in. It's fun to complain about some assessments
