Congrats to everyone who has (and hasn't!) gotten in! I've kinda been lurking on these forums getting nostalgic about me in this position a couple years ago... but for those who haven't gotten an offer: as much as it feels impossible to feel good about this right now (trust me, I know) it'll get better. If you guys can't already tell the system is pretty screwed up and mysterious; some of the smartest and most hard working people I know didn't get in and in fact A LOT of people I know who did actually get in did so through PD's/late offers (more than first round actually). I got in a week late and was literally in denial because I had convinced myself I was too stupid to get an offer... don't be like me!!! My best friend got hers literally a week before the closing date for offers. There is still hope. Don't beat yourself up. The fact that you care this much shows that yall are hard working and have goals so you're already 90% on the way to success.

Sorry if this is really out of place !! It's just what I know I needed to hear a couple years back when I was shitting myself waiting for results. You guys are all amazing :))

Hey guys,I am a year 9 student in Melbourne High this year. I did the test last year (obviously) and got 5 superiors and an above average (not trying to flex). melbourne high is pretty cool and one piece of advice to the people that got in suzanne: u guys are gonna be living the worst four years of your life, because thats what my friends said. but if you got in mhs ur all good even macrob. but u see the two co educational schools, yeah they just suck.  so welcome class of 2023 mhs students. also if u got rejected by suzanne be grateful. cya folks

your mindset is fuked

You can legit do well at any school if you have the drive and passion.

Whether it be a selective school, state school, Catholic school or private school.
It doesn't matter. (Yes some schools have more resources and better teachers and stuff but that doesn't mean your life is doomed)

Try ur best and u will succeed

Hey everyone, congrats if you got into your preferred selective school!

Anyone here apply for EBSS?
My mum rang the school this morning asking about the results, and apparently they have just begun sending out emails. Has anyone received one?

Same, my first preference was macrob and didn't get in... about 15 people in my class got into Nossal and now I feel so bad for not getting in... I literally studied and prepared for this test for 1 Year. I worked so hard and not seeing the results I want is just so heartbreaking. There's this one girl in my class who got into Nossal and I helped her with everything. She used to be coming to me for help and now that she got in makes me feel like I'm an idiot for trusting her... 😢

Hey guys before I start let me say this:

Well Done! You have all worked so far, you have learnt A LOT from this experience that ITSELF deserves a congrats!!!

For those who got into MHS, SCHS, MacRob, or Nossal good job! Try working as hard as you are already (in case you winged and got in jk  :P) and you are sure to do well in school and beyond.

For those who did not get into the above schools : Do NOT worry. Now I know some of you may feel so depressed you would care not to even read this, but this is not the end. Don't think your hardwork is a failure, on the on the other hand, think of it as a foundation and a step to success. Learning never goes to waste. I got rejected from MHS and Nossal too, and like/not like you guys, I cried for days and days. Now, I teach some of my friends (who got in) about maths and science topics (those are my strengths) via social media.  Try twice as hard, and you can easily match if not overwhelm students from selective schools. Do feel like there is no point in studying at all Get rid of your nihilism, yes it is sad and yes you did get rejected, but no you are not gonna fail in VCE and no this is not the end of the world. Think about it this way: why did you even choose to go to this particular school, and, more importantly, what can you do to cover for this?

If this does not help you at all, think like this - what can I do next? Should I apply again next year? (Here I would personally recommend trying out for a different school, like JMSS or anything else). This way you can be motivated and, with your hard work, eventually get in.

So for both parties, (those who got in and those who didn't) : good luck! ;) ;) :)
