Only just saw I got some PMs. I am not on Atarnotes often and just don't notice the messages most of the time, sorry about this. Will just try to answer the questions here:

I heard before that the subsequent offers may arrive on any days / weeks this month. Say some people already declined the offers this week (to some it would be too far, and some others took the exam as an experiment to find out where they were), then those places would be re-offered as early as next week.

There can be a chain effect. If some places at macrob / mhs are made available and offered to people who got offers to the other two schools in the first round, then some spots in those two schools will come up.

As to PD, I agree with what was mentioned by others here. You want to show your abilities and passions in other areas. Like, while being a good academic student, you are also genuine on interests to a number of other things.

So are u saying the 2nd round offers come out at the earliest next week.

Well I got a first round offer to nossal, and a principals discretion for mhs, so I guess principals discretion is a 2nd round offer

Hey Guys,
I was wondering if any of you know if you are able to get a second round offer while also having a PD, like for MGHS, for example, if you are applying for a PD currently (I am) is it possible to also get a second round offer? Or are second round offers for other people all together?

Thanks  :)

Also, is there any way to tell if you’re higher up, or like really close to getting a second round offer? Like the time you got the PD email or anything like that?

Hi there!

I got a PD for nossal, and we were meant to submit a portfolio by friday. A part of this is a personal statement to the question "why should we get a seat into nossal" in 200 words. I know that five other students in my grade (probably with a bigger portfolio of achievements than me) have also got a principal's discretion.

I really want it to stand out but I don't know how. Any tips or advice on what I should include in it?

Btw congrats if you got in!!  :) :)

I don\'t know

Hey I did the nossal entry exam last year but obviously was not successful in getting in so idk if you would wanna take my advice  but oh well. The question "Why should we get a seat into nossal?", is kind of a confusing question lmao. Are they asking as to why they should select you or like why you want to come to nossal? If thats what they are asking, then i would recommend the following:

1) Think about how you will contribute to nossal. Do you have any talents and attributes other than your academic abilities. Talk about how you can be an asset to the school. Are you a positive person? Talk about how you help others and then give examples on how you helped people. Talk about your leadership qualities. Talk about your strengths.

) Do research on Nossal, like seriously. Look through the nossal school page and get an idea of what they offer, in order to show that you actually care about the school and want to get into the school because you actually want to and not because it's just another selective school. Using the information you have gathered about the school, think about how Nossal benefits you. If you can, clearly explain how Nossal's facilities will help your pursue your chosen career and how their various electives will benefit you. Maybe talk about Nossal's unique teaching method - (team teaching -  its all on their website)   ---- I think knowing alot about the school will set you aside from all the other candidates because it shows that you are actually interested but idk if it will fit the question asked but yehhh sorryyy.

My dumbass actually thought I was gonna be helpful ahhah

I'm sorry, If I confused you or gave unnecessary information (probably explains why I failed aha) but I think Nossal would want students that contribute to their school and use their facilities and resources wisely.

I got a first round offer to nossal and a Pd for Melbourne high. Just in case I don’t get Melbourne high, is nossal any good?

If your school reached the 5% rule (majority boys going to MHS) is it only possible to get a second round offer if someone from your same school rejects an offer to the school you want to go to, or can it be other people outside the school (I got a PD for MacRob very early Friday morning, first from my school).  :)

Apparently many of the questions here have been explained quite clearly either on the department website or in the information pack that the parents had received. So perhaps get your parents to explain to you or send you all the links they have got.

PD places are not obliged by the 5% rule, if I heard correctly.

(edit to add: if you get to do PD, you have a double shot: PD path and the subsequent offering path which is subject to the 5%.)

First round offers expire after a week if my memory served me - you only have one week to say yes. This means around Thursday the department will have pretty clear ideas on further offerings. Last year I heard stories of getting 2nd round offers just before / after that 2nd weekend. And most places would be settled in August.

Cheers!
