In terms of workload, can you tell me how much work will be involved in further, method and specialist?
In Further, the theory part is quite easy to understand compared to Methods and Specialist! Because of this, it's a lot quicker to get through exercises and still have time to study other subjects! Methods needs a bit more work than Further/general does to fully understand the concepts as most students struggle however, if you get the theory, putting it into practice won't take too long. Specialist is another step from Methods, however, to do Specialist, you must be taking Methods concurrently with it. If you do Specialist and Methods together, it really feels like doing 1.5 times the amount of work instead of it feeling like 2 different subjects. The Specialist work, however, can take a long time to understand if you have weak mathematical skills so I would stay clear if you feel like you can't cope. Know your boundaries! All three maths overlap really well with each other, some in more ways than others (you would be surprised how much of Specialist 1/2 there is in General 1/2 and same with Methods 1/2).
For your year 12 exams, there are 2 exams that must be completed for a maths subject. In Further maths for Exam 1 and Exam 2, you can bring a CAS and a bound reference, however for Methods and Specialist Exam 1, it is done without notes and a CAS and then Exam 2 with Cas and Bound Reference. If you plan to do Methods or/and Specialist, I highly recommend you get good at calculations done by hand!
