✰Update: 22/03✰It's been a while since I've updated this journal. I can't believe how much stuff happens in between these journal entries sometimes but now I'm just going to get straight to the point. This virus is seriously putting a lot of unnecessary stress onto everything. Our school will probably go virtual soon by the looks of it, and I'm not looking forward to it. A good chunk of my subjects need face-to-face learning or some equipment that I don't have at home, which is seriously going to take its toll (I'm looking at you PDT and Physics). We are all in this together at least!
Currently, I have a Methods test (not a SAC but a moderation test) on Thursday and also a Physics SAC on Friday, however, if they really do plan to end school early on the Friday, I'm extremely worried my teacher is going to push the Physics SAC to a Wednesday which I am really not prepared for. Everything is really spiralling our of control.
Ok now onto the subject based stuff!
✰Physics✰ So some good things and bad things. Good thing was on my Spring SAC, I only lost a mark!! If I was a tad bit calmer during the SAC I probably would have picked it up but overall, I'm quite happy with the results.
We have a SAC on circular motion and special relativity this upcoming Friday (well I hope), and special relativity is sort of not cooperating with me right now. I'm just going to finish checkpoints on Special Rel today and then get straight into some more practise questions before the SAC! This subject is probably the one I'm most worried about because I find it almost impossible to learn if I don't see a tutorial/demo and with the school closing idea, Physics will probably become my ultimate worst subject.
✰PDT✰ Oh lord, I don't even know where I start with this subject. I'm really worried about my folio and overall making my final product. Due to the virus, everyone is stockpiling and it is also having a toll on the sewing/art supplies I'm planning to use to make my final product. I need to make a final design option soon (which takes a really long time to get a perfectly rendered design), get it approved by my end user and then hunt down the fabric before there is nothing left. It also means that I might have to fork out some money to pay for an overlocker to get my product to meet the criteria I set up for it.
Nearly everything that I've set up for this subject is crumbling. I'm sort of cornered to the point where I have to start mad-rushing my folio to get fabric and not only that pay for a whole new overlocker because I doubt my school will lend it (we only have 3 overlockers between our PDT class). Worst case scenario I run off to my friends house to use it but at least I have a basic sewing machine!
Also, the Top Designs exhibition got cancelled this year and I can sympathise with all those students that tried so hard to get in and only to not have their products looked at by the general public. It's quite heartbreaking when you think about the struggle it took to get to the end of the Top Designs shortlisting.
✰Chemistry✰ Nothing much is happening in this subject. We are finishing off batteries for redox and electrolysis. We did do a SAC the other day and I pretty sure I lost marks just because I wasn't calm during the SAC (already have lost 2 marks on stuff I could do if I was calm and hoping that my score is above 45/50).
Can't say much right now but this is really one of the only subjects that if it was to go virtual school, it would work.
✰Methods✰ Cramming for a Methods Test now and worksheets are everywhere. Stay tuned to see if Ashmi survives.
✰English✰ Got my creative SAC mark the other day and it looks like 100%! Really glad English is at least being good to me and now I'm also cramming to get a new Argument Analysis which is due on Tuesday.
Also, outside all of this, I'm having massive doubts about all my subjects and if I could go back in time, I probably would have done a completely different mix of subjects. My ATAR goal is also slipping away much more quickly and now I'm thinking I'm just going to have to aim for my second preference. With this whole epidemic, PDT if suffering the most (which is also my 'carrier' subject and pretty much my only hope of getting to the dream ATAR). With the whole school closing down soon and all, it just makes all the goals I've put to myself this year absolutely unachievable. So yeah, everything is going down the drain sadly.
I feel especially sorry for the students that do solely folio subjects, it must be super hard on them already. I hope everyone else is going alright and take care of yourself. 💕
(Also, very weird question, but is anyone else using Microsoft Teams?
