I'll start off

when drawing box plots do we need to work out outliers and fences as well?

don't know what fences are but yes, you need to work out outliers.

By memory I think the fences are the upper and lower limits that if any point is outside these limits they are outliers. But yes, definately need to show any outliers present to gain full marks.

When drawing a boxplot you do not need to draw the upper and lower fence, they are calculated by 1.5 * IQR (Inter Quartile Range) + or - the low or upper fence depending on which one you are trying to find. You clearly draw outliers but only need to state the Lower or upper fence when asked.
