I am wondering the possible structures of section 1?

Is it all source based?
or can it be plain and source-based?
I am worried about a source-essay being asked!

The Modern History exam has four sections that correlate to the four topics of the HSC syllabus. This is how it's laid out;

Source-Based
Section I (25 Marks)- Power and Authority in the Modern World 1914-1946

Essay
Section II (25 Marks)- National Studies

Essay
Section III (25 Marks)- Peace and Conflict

Essay
Section IV (25 marks)- Change in the Modern World

You can see how the exam looks using the 2019 exam paper as a guide here 

For Section I, you will more than likely be asked to write an extended response (mini-essay) and to integrate two sources into your answer to the question. If you're a bit worried about source analysis, this article was written for the old syllabus but it covers the tips and tricks you definitely can use in the new syllabus to maximise your success with Section I!
