How hard is it to get a 25+ in English Language?

Hi there,
I am currently in year 11 doing English Language 1&2 as well as the 3 math subjects + physics.
My question to you is, (well in the title) but really how hard is it to get a 25 or higher in EL.
I really dislike english as a whole so I'm keen on focussing more on my other 4 subjects.
Can I get away with just listening in class without doing any work at home and maybe study before any SAC's/exams?

(25 is the minimum requirement for the course I want to get into)

Hope you can help,
Thanks ;D

It really depends on your teacher (ultimately yourself at the end of the day), some may align their formal requirements for students with a program they perceive can increase the chances of them obtaining a 25, 35 or 45/certain cohort average they would ideally want. As obscene as this may sound, in Year 12 it is all about the work you're personally willing to put in and how your teacher can help facilitate that process. If they understand you're just aiming for a 25, they may adjust to that level of effort or possibly aim to challenge your conviction and vice versa. I recommend discussing with relevant staff at school about your goals and evaluating on the possible pathways you can take to gain entry into the course. Always remember the obvious though, if you have a passion for linguistics or analyzing how language works it wouldn't be as hard and you may even enjoy it.

Probably not the greatest advice but yes I think getting a 25 in most subjects can be done without being too dedicated. You might need a small push towards the end of the year but if you just keep up with class content you should be fine. The reason this is possible is because most people don't do much until exams come up (ATAR Notes kinds of gives the impression everyone is studying heaps everyday which is probably not the case for most of the state).

However, whilst it is possible I don't think it is the best way to do things. If EL is your worst subject if you do study for it you have the most potential for improvement and enhancing your ATAR (if you need that for anything?), also any English subject is the most important subject for all students given that it is a compulsory top 4 subject. Also, it will severely decrease any sort of stress at the end of year if you need that 25+ score. You can probably secure a 25+ score without too much stress if you just put in a consistent effort in and outside of class throughout the year.

Also for reasons outside of scores, ATARs etc Whatever you do after year 12 you won't always be able to avoid things that you dislike and a lot of VCE is more about learning about how to study/learn for the future (either at university or elsewhere) rather than the actual content you learn.

Adding to my vague advice, everyone has to examine the content either way no matter the circumstances. That is the reality and it is always important to not take on any biases that me or anyone advises. Its your prerogative in deciding what you want to do with your VCE and beyond it. Take what can specifically apply to you and apply your intuition (obviously communicating with your support networks whenever possible). There are no guarantees (in life as well) to how your efforts and work set can help you obtain a certain score. It seems that you are stressing about the 25 study score, and targeted efforts may be required to achieve or exceed expectations.

Deep-down you know what requires of you to obtain a specific target and what you truly want.

Good luck!  :)
