In year 10 - is my potential VCE workload too hard?

So I'm in year 10 entering year 11 with an interest in a commerce career (so prerequisites for the unis I want are obviously math methods and English). My mates have shown concern about the kind of workload they reckon I'm putting on myself for VCE, and my careers advisor has said it might be harder than normal (not that I care, I obviously know the VCE requires massive workloads, determination and all that stuff) but I'm looking at for y11

Math Methods
Aussie and Global Politics (doing as a 3-4)
Economics
Legal Studies
20th Century History
No idea of what English yet

Thoughts on my subject choices??? I love all the subjects I've chosen (by love I mean, I love politics, economics and history) so I reckon I'll do well, especially considering how often we've been told to do subjects we love, but thoughts on my overall subject choices, and how big my workload will end up being? Looking at formally submitting in the next few days

Cheers all

If you love all those subjects go for it! It's DEFS manageable to have 5 year 11 subjects and a year 12 subject IMO. Do you have any other reasoning for doing those subjects (prerequisites etc.)?
— VCE —
English 30, Further Maths 33, Biology 33, Legal Studies 27, Psychology 32

— University —
Bachelor of Nursing @ Monash
Bachelor of Counselling & Psychological Science @ ACAP

I don't think there should be too much of a problem. I am sure plenty of people have probably done this combination in the past.

Which subjects did you think would be too hard?

I didn't think any were too hard because I'll be honest I barely know how hard they hahaha
Just going off of what I'm told. But I'm positive about it

Apart from prerequisites, they are all subjects I love and am (without trying to brag) extremely good at, plus I could definitely see me doing something with those in the future (though ideally I do something in commerce)

Cheers man!

You'll be fine. Plenty of people do similar subjects. I did the exact same set (except legal studies) in year 11.

Though from your wording, I'm not sure if you mean you are doing two 3/4's? Australian and Global Politics are two separate subjects.

I love all the subjects I've chosen (by love I mean, I love politics, economics and history)
Ah yes, I see you are an intellectual ;D

Sorry my bad; I meant global! My school doesn't offer Australian politics as a 3-4
Cheers mate

Don't see any problem at all :) Sure, it's a more humanities based subject selection but all VCE subjects are designed to be doable. You might find yourself doing more writing than you would in other subjects but nothing dramatic, and honestly for the hums subjects I did I found the content less complex than my science/maths subjects. A big plus is you'll really develop your writing skills by doing these subjects!

Really wish that 20th Century History was offered at my school, defo would've given it a go, as I only realised the importance of understanding the past in Year 10.  I can still study 20th century history in my 'own time', but it wouldn't be the same experience as studying it during an earlier period of schooling, and having a teacher who specialises in those studies.

If there was only one thing I would've done differently in previous years, it would be pushing myself even if my heart didn't desire it by completing intriguing subjects with heavy workloads. Like some say, you aren't progressing if you're not uncomfortable. Use that 'fear' of having a hard workload as an indication you're heading the right direction.
