Yeah same for me. I learn things on my own, so I consider what I learn in/for school the side dish.

The collage of ideas. The music of reason. The poetry of thought. The canvas of logic.

Im doing a double Business degree @ swinburne, and when i flick through my Business Management year 12 book i laugh at how simple the info in it is. What I learnt in my first 3-4 lectures in the core Business subject @ uni covered everything from year 12 Business Management.

That's the course I want to do! What do you major in? I want to do a double major in HR and Marketing.

It's true. University is harder than VCE. Getting over the 50% mark is not as easy as it was in VCE. The only difference is that you don't need to get a "50" in all your subjects. If anything, you're only aiming for H1, anything above 80%. Other than that, anything above 50% is fine.

University is harder, and if you think it's going to be a bludge, you're deluded. You can bludge through it, but you won't get great marks.

University is not necessarily harder than VCE; it depends the level you want to achieve at. It is true that marks seem to drop off a lot quicker in uni than in VCE (hence the highest grade is 80%). However... (depending on where you're from and where you're headed) you may find that uni has a better academic atmosphere because the people around you are generally more intelligent (that's how they got into uni).

Don't fret... uni is a brighter and better place than high school. You won't regret going.

For example, an assignment that was due last week required 4000 words and 15 references.

i like uni a lot better, even though the work is of course a lot more complicated, i feel a lot more comfortable with it, because there is no more useless subjects like VCE English.

a strange thing at uni is the amount of socialist/communist activists.

Yeah, that's particularly where VCE gets hard. However, I think people underestimate university. The rate at which you must learn material in university is a new field game, compared to VCE. In maths you're doing an entire topic in a week compared to VCE where you cover 6-8 major topics over the whole year.

vce maths is so slow..

Hows 3/4 methods treating you then??

Same. That is definitely one major factor! In addition, no oppressive uniform, etc.

I hate socialists and communists.

I remember that guy. I used to think he was narrow-minded. Can't remember what exactly he said.
