yes, I agree with you sachinmachin... although, I got the wrong actual answers :P

I think I went much beyond what was required, and I took e^ both sides, then let all the equations = 1/2 and then solved from there

if you type y=2loge(x) and y=loge(x^2) into your graphic calculator.. you will see that they are only the same in the first and fourth quadrants...

therefore you can change 2loge(x) to loge(x^2) only when x>0

hmm...you make a valid point. i hope to death you are wrong...(SORRY :D)

Calculator does not know log laws. Calculator knows 2loge(x) as 2loge(x) NOT loge(x^2).

you are wrong.  but maybe this question would be considered ambiguous and i wont lose a mark for putting in -1, awesome

Calculator does not know log laws. Calculator knows 2loge(x) as 2loge(x) NOT loge(x^2).
when loge(x) is dilated by a factor of 2 from the x-axis...it becomes 2loge(x)..since the domain of loge(x) is (0,infinity)..the domain of 2loge(x) should also be (0, infinity)
therefore...2loge(x) and loge(x^2) are only the same when x>0

Yeah I'm fairly definite -1 is incorrect.

Exam was probably a bit too easy.. did it in 28 mins, then redid the whole thing on the formula sheet (catching a stray minus sign xD)

Ah, good luck. XD

I found the exam alright. Last question was a bit iffy, though I kind of wish VCAA would've made the exam a bit harder.
