French or HHD for higher ATAR?

Hello,
Pls give me some advice.

I have 2 options: keep my current Yr 12 English teacher (not an engaging teacher, just reads stuff, isn't strict, doesn't check hw) or change into another Eng class with a much better teacher and drop French for another subject (probably HHD). So what would be a better option ATAR wise given I'm interested in studying Medicine.
Pls give me some advice!

French scales above at some point 50 whilst HHD will either stay the same or scale down 1 at that level. 40 in French scales up to 49.

Well, do you enjoy French? And do you enjoy HHD? I find this the most useful in judging how you'll go, because the subjects you enjoy also tend to be the ones you're strong at.

In terms of medicine, HHD may be useful. But are you sure even if you drop French for HHD, you will get another English teacher? I understand that usually the English teacher you have for transition this year will be your teacher next year, but there is a possibility things might change. That saying, I do feel having a good English teacher will be massively advantageous for your study score and ATAR.

I also do agree with @Coolgalbornin03Lo about HHD being scaled down. But that saying, choosing a subject that scales down may not strongly affect your ATAR, since you could maybe have time to invest in your other subjects.

I'm not sure if this advice will help, so I'm sorry if my response isn't very clear. But I think it's important to go with what your heart thinks.

I endorse waterangel82's response
Please don't do a subject just for its scaling you do better in subjects you actually like studying
Possibly see if you can discuss with your English teacher your concerns and see if they can address them.
If you really don't vibe with ur current English teacher then change the class- this is because English has to be in your primary 4 (and therefore is important)
Changing in to HHD will not negatively affect your ATAR it just means you would need a higher raw study score to get the same scaled study score if you had done French.
But if you're interested in med then you will like HHD and it will provide some good insights.
See if your English teacher improves and if they don't just know doing HHD won't negatively affect your ATAR you can still get a good ATAR with subjects that scale down :)
