yeah as long as they are within the A4 bounds of the paper. So just cut off the sides of the paper, and stick it in so it doesn't fold or anything

How strict are they with the bound reference book?
For example, with my one, it's all on A4 sheets bound by a single permanent spine - but the spine obviously makes the big "bigger than A4"

Will they care?
Especially since my school's "approved" of it already?

Well I don't know about other schools but our supervisor is an ex teacher so she's fine with most things so if you went to our school it'd be fine without a doubt (we got let in with Derrick's)

But technically you should be allowed it in because the books are allowed to be bound with a spine

Specifications for bound reference:
It must have a single horizontal or vertical spine.

Does spiral binding count as a single spine?

everything has to be stuck in properly
but like i said.. depends on your supervisors and how strict they are with the vcaa rules

Especially since my school's "approved" of it already?

The supervisors at my school didn't even go around checking the bound reference or give the references the "wall treatment".  They did, however, walk around during writing time giving quick glances to see if the bound references were actually bound with a spine.
