« on: October 29, 2021, 09:54:17 pm »
any past (or present) methods students!!!

i have done REALLY bad in methods this year but I need a 25. Is this hard? and what sort of questions should I focus on to be able to do at least half of each of the exams?
my average for sacs this year is literally 50% is 25 a little too high for me to be aiming for?

any help would be great i am so stressed

thank you in advance

Well a few things:
A 30SS=the exact average, which means in theory getting 50% in every assesment (exam+sacs) would yield a 30. Now obviously it is way more nuanced than that, for example the way VCAA moderates the sacs (each school gets different ones right? So one school could give really easy ones, and one could give very harsh ones) is by using the exam, which is the same for everyone. If ur cohort is averaging 20% on their sacs, but then averages 99% on the exam and does well on the GAT, they r gonna assume you sacs were really, really hard. And so ur SAC scores go wheeeeeeeeeee all the way up. Likewise if ur class averages 80% on the sacs, and gets 50% on the exam, the sacs get scaled down. So keep in mind that how you go on the exam will not only make up the bulk of ur SS (exams are worth more than sacs, so sacs are not as important as u think) but also provides a chance for ur sac marks to increase, assuming ur cohort does well.

So is 25 too high? Not at all. In theory actually, ignoring scaling, sac ranks etc, u could get 0% on all ur sacs, but if u full mark both exams you would get above 25. Just do your absolute best on the exams, don't stress too much cause that make su do worse (even tho telling somebody not to stress is a paradox lol) and plz remember that it isn't the end of the world. Tho if i'm being honest, I personally don't think a 25 is like, EXTREMELY unlikely with ur scores, actually I think you could pull it off. Also question, is 50% less or more than the cohort average? How does ur school normally go in methods and if u know, what is ur rank? That would make things a bit easier if u r just really desperate for accurate predictions.
"Don't give up, and don't put too much effort into things that don't matter"-Albert Einstein, probably.

Not doing methods this year, but I did do it last year in unit 1/2. I would say you got a pretty good chance of getting above 25 if you ace those 2 exams next week.
