exam was pretty easy, wishing id studied for legal instead of physics right now ( didn't have time for both so picked physics) still reckon i will get 70-80% for the exam. with sac scores of around 90% and ranked 2nd in my class can any1 give me a study score idea?

i did B even though 90% of kids at my school did A
it was much easier to show understanding and knowledge of the topic and weaving in a recent and recommended change for each of the 4 principle adds credibility to your discussion
but all in all was a fairly standard exam, nothing too crazy
worried about marking though, because it seems as if in legal studies teachers take marks off for ambiguous and generic reasons, like with our sacs :S
teacher said that at the top end they look to take marks off rather that reward you for what you write - examples are the key if your aiming 40+
2008: methods: 37
2009: english: 50, legal: 45, chem: 40, eco: 37, spec: 32
ENTER: 98.70
2010: biomed/law @ monash

i included an example for every question, even the bail act for Q1

well i disagree haha, some of those questions were very out of the ordinary, like evaluating the effectiveness of the constitution (WITHOUT COMPARISON!!!) and those essays tough stuff, how did people answer 10a?

i did two reasons for change, two ways of informal influence, VLRC with an example and three strength and weaknesses of how effective parliament responds to changes in the law

any differences?

oh shitttt. i didn't do strengths and weaknesses. i did 2 reasons for change with examples and then 4 ways of informal influence and then VLRC with an example.

i had no idea what to write about the high court's appellate jurisdiction didn't study it at all haha. but the rest seemed ok from what i gathered. might have lost a couple of marks here and there...so devastated considering i got 97/100 for sacs. i can kiss my 40+ study score goodbye, i heard u needed to get an A+ to get it :(

i found it difficult to write a concise opinion on section a of the last one - i did 2 reasons, then referred to the abortion law reform that we studied and spoke about the infromal pressures involved (catholic chuirch letters etc) then the vlrc's role in the change and then said despite the fear of governments to legislate on sensitive issues etc etc brumby did act adequately to ensure he was fulfilling his representative role to the people (or something along those lines)

also for the high court one aspect of its appellate jurisdiction - i said to hear appeals from state supreme courts and from federal courts such as the family court - but didnt say how many judges - does that matter? or full court/full bench, damn!

also was unsure how that civil pre trials question could be 5 marks but i think i managed to make up to 5 marks worth
overall i was pretty happy with it!

I'm in the same boat as you. I too forgot about the High Court question and appellate jurisdiction. Feel a little sick about it. Got to forget about it and start thinking about revs and politics tomorrow. ew

yes, that is a help, but not when politics is an hour after history. Would have much preferred international studies next to politics

the unit 4 one was to. discuss recent changes or recommendations for change to improve the effective operation of the legal system... along those lines.

a was to discuss the role individuals, groups and formal law reform bodies can have on influencing changes in the law
