Woah, arrogance meter going haywire. Not everybody prioritises their ENTER above the rest of their life. Not everybody even does VCE because they want a good ENTER. A lot of people want to go to TAFEs or join the army or whatnot, but would rather do it when they're 18 with people their own age. Believe it or not, there are plenty of people who aren't tertiary-educated contributing much more to this world and "going further" than people who are. Also, there are plenty of reasons for somebody to be "respected" that don't have anything to do with study. That would be a very narrow-minded way to look at it.
