SD Exam Discussion
« on: November 12, 2009, 05:59:18 pm »
Just a thread to post what you got so we can roughly determine the correct answers. =]

Mine: ACADDADBAABCACACADCD

These are by no means the correct answers, just what I got.
Keep in mind I'm a Z- student so there are bound to be numerous incorrect answers.
Cheers guys. ;)

SD Exam Discussion

How did everyone find this exam?

Personally I found it pretty easy. I was expecting a full page algorithm but all we got were small simple ones. Also providing the entire DFD simplified things a lot.

My answers for the MCQ were:

1: A
2: C
3: A
4: D
5: D
6: D
7: D
8: B
9: C (Pretty sure I got this wrong and the correct answer is A. I originally put A and changed in the last 5 minutes because of the word "details".)
10: A
11: B
12: C
13: A
14: C
15: A
16: C
17: A
18: D
19: D
20: D

As for the short answers, most of the questions were straight forward but a few were fairly dodgy and ambiguous.

The question in part B about the guy changing including an online component to his business and what were the advantages of this seemed more like a Business question than a SD question.

The case study questions were interesting.

I didn't like the one about two factors they should consider when deciding on a scanner. It said that the scanners had the correct "technical specs" but what exactly does this mean? I juggled between Compatibility, Efficiency and Reliability as possible answers depending on what they meant by Technical specs being correct (for example, I said they need to consider how long it takes the scanner to scan as they are working with hundreds of images, but technical specs may include the scanning speed).

I think I interpreted the algorithm problem correctly. I said that because the IF test tests whether Length > Length Required, rather than Length >= Length required, if a length of wood was exactly the length required, it would be rejected.

19: D
20: D

I got the exact same, except i changed to C in the last 5mins for question 9 (From A) because of the word 'documentation'.
So all same but i got 9: C

I also did the same for algorithm. :)

As for the scanner question, i found that confusing too, but wrote Economic factor and Operational factor and rambled on lol.

Part B felt good ;)

That was just an easy exam... even for a novice programmer like me! Thankgod the algorithms made sense!

damn, i put B for the first question. I wasn't sure and changed it like 5 times. I thought i remembered reading somewhere if a node goes down the entire network does.

You need a microscope to see this year's algorithm compared to last years  XD
Absolutely loved the exam, finished with 45 mins to spare ^^

Hopefully end up somewhere in the 45-50 region =)

Edit: What was MC question 9?

Edit: What was MC question 9?

The one about disaster recovery plan documentation is done in which stage thingo? (haha total blank sorry)

Options were like, Design, Evaluation, Implementation, Testing
(I think, really gone blank lol)

Question 9 was about what type of documentation it was. I think it was like "a guide that details the steps involved to operate a piece of software is called a:"

Option A was a quick start guide
Option C was a procedures manual
Options D and B were stupid

My OP is incorrect, I actually changed my answer to C from A which I believe is incorrect, however I'm not entirely sure. (My whole class said A).

Well they were talking about two different suppliers if I remembered correctly. And I interpreted as consider factors why you would choose from one supplier over the other. I talked about support, whether the supplier will provide technical support 24/7, over the weekend, support guys come in to fix the scanner ect. And for my second point I couldn't think of anything else so I said maintenance, whether the supplier will provide regular maintenance on the scanners. But I felt that my second point was a bit similar to my first so I don't think I'm gonna get full marks for it.

I got the same as you for the algorithm. I was quite surprised at how small and easy it was, I was expecting some complex page long algorithm but thank god it was simple and easy :D

Oh really... Damn, I'm way out of it tonight.
I still said C though ><

Umm, the one where it says the PC1 has a harddrive of 16GB, how much space is the GIF files going to take up or something like that. If you can remember it.
