Friends and VCE

Has anyone been put in a position where your friends decide to pick your subjects because your doing it, only to find out that it's too difficult for them? I have been put in this position and my friends are blaming me for letting them fail. They are under tremendous pressure from teachers asking them for overdue work and they always want me to do their work. I'm in year 11 at the moment so I don't really mind doing this, but I'm not sure if I would want to do this next year. I would just feel a bit odd doing this and secretly I wouldn't want to.  I think they have trouble reading their textbook and studying the material covered. They are also lazy and disrupt my classes. Though I still want them to do well and I show this by explaining and clarifying topics they are having difficulty with. But I dunno, I don't want my friends resenting me if I were not to do (or partially do) their SACs. (We do our SACs at home for some of our subjects). Anyway, I want to do well in VCE and I don't want to do anything that might jeopardise that. I'm not a bad person really. What should I do?

If you didn't force them into doing the subject you shouldn't have any responsibility in helping them out. In the end it really is everyone's own decision to chose their own subjects, no one fills in the form for you.

I pretty much forced my friend to do Bio 3/4 with me because I didn't know if there were other year 11s who would want to (there were so hurrah for that). She thought it would be fun, but ended up struggling a bit. I offered to help, but I think she just gave up after a while. Whoops. Luckily for her she's doing 223094823 other subjects so her Bio mark won't even count.

Anyway, don't feel bad if your friends are lazy and expect you to do their work. I think that's ridiculously selfish and I personally rage whenever I'm expected to do everything in group work just because I'm more competent. It's not like you made them pick their subjects and they're the ones who should've treated their subject selection more seriously. If they're really struggling that much, they could just drop it and pick up something else.

There's a difference between Year 11/12 and wtf at them blaming you and disrupting your learning as well. Just explain the concepts to them, but you shouldn't be expected to actually do their work.

I picked a VCE subject because my friend was doing it and told me to choose it. Then she dropped out of the class (and I didn't know anyone else in it). It's not your responsibility to carry your friends along. You didn't hold a gun to their heads and tell them to write it down (I hope). I accepted that choosing that subject was ultimately my choice and I should live with it and not place blame on my friend... it's called being mature.

Don't do their work. That's stupid. You have a massive work load as it is, although explaining concepts is a good thing. It'll help you as well because you'll be able to see which areas you might need to improve on.

LOL. SO we have reached this conclusion xD

WOW, never woulda guessed :P xD

To the OP, all I can say is the over used expression, if they really were you're friends they wouldn't do this to you.

These "friends" sound like terrible people!

I would suggest rethinking your social ties for next year.
You don't want these sorts of people influencing you, and you most certainly should not be doing their work for them.

You shouldn't have to do the work for them because ultimately it is their own decision to take a certain subject. You may have suggested the subject to them, but you could never have forced them if they willingly took the subject anyway. It's pretty unfair for you! Perhaps speak to one of your coordinators?

my advice is to tell them whats bugging you (if you feel you can approach them in that way) or just forget about them and hang around different people. they dont sound like they are worth your time or effort
and if you realllyyy want to still be friends with them (why u would want that is beyond me) just jokingly tell them to start pulling their weight, if they are smart enough they will get the hint

well its not your fault if they chose the subjects because of u

just tell them that its their own responsibility to do wateva they want to do for yr 12 and stop nagging u!

if they keep bothering you... well... then they are not really good "friends"
