I remember when I signed up reading enwiabe planned to make money off it *goes to dig up link*

I just want to say this at the start before anyone casts aspersions or thinks I've led people on: this is a business venture. I will be looking to make money from this website through advertising. But I say this now, and I will never recant it: There will never ever be a fee required to access FSN. FSN will always be free for every VCE student to use. The only money I hope to make is through advertising. This website, after all, provides FREE study notes. May this website prosper for many years to come and give VCAA the biggest headache it's ever experienced.

Ey. Ren, are you alright? Srsly.

Dan wants to generate revenue so he can reinvest it back to FSN. He wants to get a professional graphic designer, he wants to get professionals to market the site. Without revenue, we can only run by the generous donations of time and effort by people -- and that won't always occur. BoS (Bored of Studies) heck raises 2x much revenue that we do, so I'd advise you to take back your comments.

Enwiabe edit: This is partially true. Some of the money that I do make back will be reinvested into FSN to make it better. However, a good portion of it and more than likely the majority of it WILL be income.

EDIT: undeleted, because she really really wanted it back. :)

I already deleted the comments. She's been wasted three times now, both by myself, coblin and you. Let's let her leave with a little dignity in tact. >_> Oh and apple, i'm only gonna hire the professional web-designer once I make back my initial investment. After that, I don't think I'll be pouring too much more into the site until it starts to become a steady income earner.

I don't understand why people have an issue with enwiabe making money off FSN. This is where we cross the line from disliking enwiabe for bad decisions in the past, and jumping on a "hate enwiabe" bandwagon. I have been part of the former, but not the latter.

enwiabe runs this site on a deficit. Why should he be criticised for trying to get a return on his investment? He has offered a free service to you all, and at the moment, is complying to market demand. It is a service that mutually benefits you and will also benefit him in some time.

If you stubbornly refuse to believe in the idea of his money-making, then I point you to brendan's comment:

Not to mention that I'm investing time into this project... You know, kind of like a real job... that you get paid for.

I said i would prefer if he put ALL the money back into the community like some other sites did rather than using this site as an income as it creates more of a community atmosphere.

It's a personal opinion guys, chill out.

I also said that its enwiabes site and he can do whatever he wants...

so basically advertising is there to put money in enwiabes pockets...

this site isnt about helping other students and creating a community its about making money for one person.

Personally I prefer the system other sites have where all money goes back into the site to pay to improve it and make it the best possible community possible - shows what the site is about - COMMUNITY not MONEY MAKING

but hey its enwiabes site, as he has shown and told us in the past he can do whatever the hell he wants...

1. It's enwiabe's site. It is his property not yours.
2. " helping other students and creating a community its about making money for one person." The two goals are not inconsistent. To make money he has to attract eyeballs, and to attract eyeballs guess what he has to do? That's right - he has to create a community where students can help each other!
3. again why is money making inconsistent with improving the website? It is not. Don't you see that to make more money, he needs more eyeballs, and to get more eyeballs, guess how he can do that? That's right - improve the website!

I think he should definitely be allowed to take back enough to compensate him for the time invested as well as the physical costs (i.e.: economically zero profit).

As for investing the rest into community, that is a good idea - some competition would accelerate that.

I hope the mods get some form of payment for the time they put into the site also, some of the mods are doing such a great job providing useful answers and resources - they should get recognition for all the time and effort they put in to :)

I've already said that I intend to invest some back. Yeeesh. :P Right now I'm in the red though and investing more is out of the question.
