I want to work as some kind of policy making guy

with a think tank or the government or something

what sort of course would I take and where?

urban planning: "urban" : no
planning: is actually an urban planning course
bachelor of environments: too general
law: might not get the marks

help?

Arts, major in International Relations/Public Policy/that kinda thing. Although I'm not sure what unis offer public policy courses (my dad did this at UoM, but that was more than 25 years ago...).

You could get into policy making through any degree really. What to choose depends on your interests.

A glaring omission from that list is Commerce/Economics.

Economists are crucial to policy planning. If you don't understand incentives, you can't create good policy.

Umm... he started off his career working at a trade union... moved up from there I suppose..?

I don't know a lot about Paul Keating... personally, I find Bob Hawke more interesting to read about... I don't much care for politics anyway though.

i dont know anything in depth about him
but at least he knew a thing or two about the business cycle and recessions....
