Reckon I might possibly have a chance for this award?
I was so pissed off, a 49 was in my bottom two. Damn VCAA, my ENTER could have been slightly higher (and thus meet personal goal and make me satisfied) if Further had been in my top 4...
Yeah you will probably get it...
Stop being bitter!
And I know this sounds snarky, but stop blaming VCAA!
Well it does - you wouldn't blame the VCAA because you've got a perfect score. I've got a 49 in my bottom two, and haven't manipulated the scaling system, but still wound up with a lower score.
I don't see why VCAA is to blame for your predicament.  I agree that the current system is somewhat flawed, but at least they're trying to adjust for cohort discrepancies by scaling.
Are you angry about the whole 'English in primary 4' thing?  Oh well, there's really nothing you can do about it, so like xXNovaxX said, try to focus on the positives (you did really well!!)
And are you implying that I 'manipulated the scaling system'?  I think my 99.95 is chiefly a result of my 50 in English, not any scaling miracles that worked in my benefit.  (I apologise if this was not your sentiment)
I agree with what you're saying. Assuming my other scores stayed the same, I would've needed a 50 in English to get a 99.95, and that's with Spesh scaling to 52. (My aggregate was 193, 209.1 was needed for 99.95) Although I always knew that scaling would help me out, especially with Spesh, I was more focused on scoring really good raw scores for my maths/chem subjects. I always knew that English wouldn't be a spectacular score, and if I tried to go about it intelligently, I should've aimed for 46 raws in my subjects because then they scale to around 49 so there's little difference between a 46 and 50 after scaling and I could've spent more time improving English. In fact the dux at my school (99.6) beat me despite his top subject being a 47 in English. Really, it is English that will affect your ENTER the most. You could try doing what I did and score really well in other subjects, but in the end it is English that will bring your score down. Either way, I'm still very happy about my score, and I was hoping for at least 35 in English and that's what I got. It was an improvement from my C average in year 11 and that's what matters to me. Now I don't have to do English specific subjects which makes me relieved. I know for certain that my score will get me into my course and once I'm in Uni, this score won't mean much anymore, what matters is learning new stuff and doing what I enjoy. It will be nice to always reflect on how I did and I will always know I put in a massive effort and my score reflects that.
