Melbourne's best engineering major

Is there a major in engineering that Melbourne is particular good at/known for?

I'm most interested to how melbourne compares in their specialities to the other tertiary providers of the courses in Victoria.

The rumour is that mechanical engineering at melbourne is seen by industry as the best university to come from.

Don't know anything about other specialities though.

hmmm it's kind of hard to compare, as long as you get good grades at melbourne you will still get a good job. But chemical systems from my experience is pretty well recognised.

Other main tertiary providers that have good reputation for engineering are RMIT and Monash.

I'm not too sure about this. The thing is that I was considering engineering, but had my heart set on maths and physics, so I never really researched which engineering field is Melbourne uni's best.

From what I have seen, chemical engineering is the most popular among engineering students and a few are alsovery interested in civil. A few students considering mechanical, electrical or software (?) will go on to do mechatronics via a MEng.

I know that RMIT and Monash are also very well known uni's for engineering.
