If you get A+ on  exams, then your SAC mark should also be moderated to A+, this only seems fair, sadly this isn't always the case.  The fact that you weren't able to to pull an A+ in one of the exams probably cost you, as it would have also ensured you got an A+ for SACS, and would have more than likely boosted your SS into the 40's.

Nah, it was A+ Exam 1, and A for SACS and Exam 2.

I thought he said his results were A+ A+ B+, with the B+ being SACs.

A+, A+, B+ isnt weird
think about it as the B+ and one A+ balance out to an A
then you have A+ A A which seems fine to me to get a 38

i got 38 for psych with 2 high A's and one low one which was my SAC mark

I thought VCAA stuffed up when my EL SACs weren't moderated.  I ended up getting A, A+ for Unit 3 and 4 SACs respectively and a C for the exam.

Guess it all depends on:

1.  The strength of your cohort
2.  Where you are ranked
3.  How well you and your cohort do in the exams

Sorry, I thought the B+ was the exam. If it is SAC's and you are sure you were ranked highly in UNIT 3, then definitely get it checked. High ranking at MHS almost always means A+ after moderation.

Your first port of call should be the post results inquiry service. Their details are located in the brochure that was sent to you with your study scores.

If you look at the 2008 stats, the A+ range for the exam was 290-400 which is huge. If you were at the lower end of this scale (assuming the 2009 range was similar) and your Unit 3 SACs were a low A+ it is certainly possible that your mark could have moderated that much even if you were ranked first.

Although most people simplify the explanation of moderation to "the person with the highest rank will have their SAC score moderated to the highest exam score" it is a lot more complex than that.

So in a situation lets say for Chemistry,
I am ranked at Number 3 in SACS with A+ for Unit 3, and Ranked Number 2 for SACS Unit 4,
come Exam time, and U3 Exam I beat The Ranked number 2 person and ranked number 1
ranked person, and same deal for U4 Exam.

Should I be getting a higher score?

Yes, because the exams hold the most weighting in determining your study score.  Almost the same thing happened to me in Further.  I was ranked like 15th on the whole cohort but I still managed to get a 40+ while 10 others ranked before me didn't.

i don't actualy think they'd round it up, but there are specific aggregated scores that are equvillant to an ENTER score.
for example (i have no idea of real ones) if ENTER of 92.50 was 159.00 and ENTER of 92.45 was 158.85, then you'd most likey get 92.45 since it wasn't high enough (just) for the 0.05 above.

In essence, "cohort" just means a group. In this case, it's referring to how all year 12's perform, or, in some cases, how your school performs.
