There's no such thing as a free lunch means that someone foots the bill in the end.

It can be free for individuals within the system, but the cost is spread somewhere. We are bearing the costs for this.

Learn what a saying means before you use it.

Sorry Collin... but I still think Daniel's point stands.
So does Doboman's.

I asked for permission from Prav, so his point about "integrity" is moot.

I wanted to defend his position. I did the same thing once for dcc's moderatorship. The first thing mentioned to Prav was Merspi, then other things. I don't doubt that the other things were important (activity), but it was just a misjudgment to attribute any of it to Merspi.

If the original part of my post wasn't deleted, you would see that was a light stab at enwiabe for what he did, as well as discouraging me from other potentially good opportunities in the past (i.e.: David Shen). His backlash made it seem far more serious than it should have. I am sick of him taking everything behind the scenes, that is the only reason why I made a point of his edit this time - and not any other time (look for edits on my posts by enwiabe, if you want to see).

All that said, this meetup group has attracted a fair bit of attention. Starting a community is never easy, and some channels are working better than others (VCENotes less so, because of the online focus, but some lurkers/members appreciate the effort!)

I apologize, but I happen to find this post quite funny, you are a fag.

I can understand reasons behind Prav's demotion: activity and quality of post are very important to moderatorship. As I see it, Merspi is a student community that has a meeting point online. Then the relationship between VN and Merspi is what a normal person would consider as "competition", and according to the Code of Conduct, only a technicality ("posts" vs "signature") is preventing Merspi links from being banned in signatures. I can only imagine the punitive actions would be more severe in the case of a VN staff advertising a competitor. You may be able to show Merspi is not a competitor of VN through some reasoning, but life doesn't get caught on technicalities.

Quote
9) Any posts directly advertising a competitive link, I.E. "Go here! BETTER FORUM!!!!!11" will be deleted immediately and the poster will be issued a warning.
(a) Any repeat offences will be rewarded with another deletion and more warnings.
(i) On the third or fourth offence, the offender will be banned for 1 day.
(ii) On the next offence, the offender will be banned for up to 7 days
(iii) Any repeat offences, the case will be referred to the administrator for possible permanent banning.

But of course, because Merspi is the first thing that was mentioned to Prav, that has to be the predominant reason. You may also argue you never stated it was the predominant reason, but that's the only reason you quoted in your early posts. Again, life doesn't get caught on technicalities.

Though technically, because the first thing I said is "you are a fag", it happens to be the predominant reason I have in disagreeing, hence this post is invalid.

Apologies again, one for calling you a fag, and another for forgetting to reply to this half of the post.

1. Who gave you the right to publicly take a 'light stab' at enwiabe for personal reasons? I interpret this more as you provoking him. He has a right to defend his position, especially when you are the one starting this. I agree to his reasons in moving this thread to here, and I haven't seen a valid reason provided by you to justify you taking a 'light stab'. Integrity or not, you haven't rebutted against his reasons in moving this thread either.

2. What things has he taken behind the scene? You of all people knows that there is no point making an accusation without backing it up without evidence.

Daniel used to get a bit carried away with his online power... are you saying that this still continues Collin?

In this case, yes.

I stated a personal opinion against him, and it was removed. It wasn't an advertisement or anything.

Half of it had no relation to Prav too. I remarked that he likes to shut down good idea, such as warning me from approaching David Shen (educational entrepreneur). bubbles sunglasses has had a good experience with him. I regret not meeting him for fear of being conned into something.

Since then, I've met with who some regard as the slimiest of salesmen, Daniel Dobos, with no fear. Experiences are worth it.

Mao, I have no interest in reversing any decisions he makes on this forum, I was just expressing myself (the light stab at his paranoia, which he had the right to respond to, but he chose to delete it)

relevant things)-
(i) the offending post as compared to the other posts in the thread
(ii) the offending post's interference with the line of otherwise on-topic discussion in the thread.
(iii) the offending post's humour

He did not shut down this idea (he moved it to this board, not deleted/locked).

Also did he force you to take his advice on David Shen? I'm pretty sure you should be responsible for your own decisions. Blaming others because you missed an opportunity is almost as childish as... blaming others because you missed an opportunity.

Excuse me? Since when do you go blaming me for decisions that you made? You have some chutzpah. You didn't have to listen to me, I believe I merely remarked that he SOUNDED dodgy, and that I had no personal experience of the man and could not comment with any certainty.

You have the gall to then turn around and say that it is my fault for a mistake that you made? Jesus Christ, Collin, take some responsibility for your own actions.

EDIT: Aw, beaten by both of you :(

Great minds think alike? :P

I'm saying you make some bad nudges about opportunities.

I'm not blaming you for it, I'm just saying you make bad suggestions.

Here is what I said, that was removed (attempt to reproduce accurately, because edit history is invisible and non-public on VCENotes)

It was not a big deal at all:

"Your paranoia likes to shut down good ideas (link to thread about bubbles and educational entrepreneur David Shun) :P
(Also AppleXY removed from Global Moderator partly because of his 'involvement in Merspi'. He hasn't logged on more than twice in 2 months)"

It wasn't any of the straw-man claims you guys are making. I am not asking for the thread to be moved back, or complaining about it. I'm making a poking-fun-at reply to it. Also, highlighting possible unjust reasons why AppleXY may have been demodded, but not pleaing for his return (Prav didn't care from what I saw anyway).

I not here to take sides or anything.  I just wanted to say that I am reading this as an outsider and it does not look very good.  I think any personal issues between you all should be worked out in private, and this thread should be closed and deleted.

This isn't an argument as much as it is a conflict.
