RMIT Orientation?

Hello

Not many RMIT'ers, but who here goes/has gone to RMIT?

Anyone care to write a bit about the Orientation Program? When is it, what do you do?

Also do you get to have the chance to go to "groups" of like 15-20 people like Monash Uni has? You go in a group with the people doing same course as you or something?

I actually can't remember when O-week was, but in terms of what you do during it, I think it depends on what school your degree is from. There's normally some introductory lectures plus ice-breaker type activities.

For degrees from the School of Computer Science and IT, you go through the normal O-week stuff plus things like setting up your account on the RMIT servers, learning basic Unix skills etc. Some find it a bit tedious but I found that it hyped me up for uni.

Oh, so you get to meet your classmates?

Thanks for that, and as a student of Software Engineering Ell, I am not surprised it "hyped you up"  lol

It is a pretty layed back type of place Nova.  I remember when they had Orientation day for Higher Education.  They have like a big festival in the courtyard. I've forgotten what the name of the street is. But yeah they have all the different groups and clubs you can sign up for, as well as music and BBQ and a whole bunch of other free stuff.  It looked like a lot of fun.  :)
